La Città in Campagna e la Campagna in Città. Architettura e Natura, Atti del IV Convegno diffuso Internazionale. San Venanzo, Terni, 13-17 settembre 2016

The volume collects the documents of the Fourth International Diffusion Conference that took place in San Venanzo, Umbria, in September 2016. The event is part of the manifestation called "Architettura e Natura – Premio Simonetta Bastelli”. The occasion was organized by the cultural organization "architetto Simonetta Bastelli". In addition to this conference, the organization also promotes various activities, such as an architectural workshop and a prize for landscape design proposals, along with other cultural events. Like the previous editions, the Conference was "widespread": it is not only in the main hall of the commune, but in more places for more than a day. In this way it was possible to discuss a very current theme: "The city in the countryside and the countryside in the city". This crucial subject has been discussed in a new way: the relationship between the countryside and the city, trying to verify and specify both different identities, enriching both of them. The theme was developed taking into account the surveys conducted by municipal and regional institutions concerning the state owned farm located in the vicinity of the small urban tissue of the Region. In this case, the village that is considered is San Venanzo: here, there is a need to compare the country system and the urban system, trying to identify possible connections between the two systems. The volume includes all the interventions of the personalities who participated in the event and is subdivided into sections, depending on the amount of days and topics discussed during the Conference: "Network / Systems", "City in Countryside", "Countryside in the City ". There is also the Lectio Magistralis of the Portuguese Landscape Designer João Ferreira Nunes and the Conference of Perry Maas from the architectural team "WEST 8 - Urban Architecture and Landscape Architecture" in Rotterdam. The intention of the publication and the conference is to understand the relationships and interconnections between cities and the country considering new sustainable development.

Il volume raccoglie gli atti del IV Convegno diffuso Internazionale che si è tenuto a San Venanzo, in Umbria, nel settembre 2016, all’interno dell’evento “Architettura e Natura. Premio Simonetta Bastelli”. La manifestazione, organizzata dall’Associazione culturale “architetto Simonetta Bastelli”, oltre al Convegno si compone di differenti attività tra cui un Workshop stanziale di progettazione, un Premio per progetti di paesaggio ed una serie di altri eventi di carattere culturale. Come ogni edizione il Convegno è stato “diffuso”, svolgendosi non solo all’interno della sala congressi del Comune ma in più sedi e per più giorni, così da poter affrontare e dibattere in modo approfondito su un tema di grande attualità: “la città in campagna e la campagna in città”. Si è dibattuto, in forma innovativa di un importante tema: il rapporto tra campagna e città, cercando di verificare e specificare le due diverse identità, arricchendole reciprocamente. Il tema è scaturito da una richiesta delle istituzioni regionali e comunali sui casali demaniali che gravitano intorno ai piccoli tessuti urbani umbri, in questo caso quello di San Venanzo, cercando di comprendere e comparare il sistema campagna e il sistema città verificando le reti possibili tra i sistemi. Il volume, che raccoglie i contributi dei differenti relatori intervenuti, è suddiviso in più sezioni quante sono state le giornate e i differenti temi affrontanti: “La rete/I sistemi”, “Città in Campagna”, “Campagna in Città” oltre alla Lectio Magistralis del Paesaggista portoghese João Ferreira Nunes e alla Conferenza di Perry Maas del team di proget¬tazione dello studio di Rotterdam WEST 8 - Urban Design & Landscape Archi¬tecture. L’intento della pubblicazione, così come quello del Convegno, è quello di comprendere i rapporti, le relazioni e le interdipendenze esistenti tra la città e la campagna alla luce di un nuovo modello di sviluppo sostenibile.
